GASW's Qualifying Course In Group Analysis
This is a professional training leading to qualification to practice as a Group Analyst and Full Membership of Group Analysis South West.
The components of this course include:
- Personal Group Analysis in a twice-weekly group commencing before full training begins and continuing throughout its duration
- Supervised individual clinical practice for those without appropriate prior experience
- Psychiatric placement for those without appropriate prior experience
- Supervised clinical practice conducting two analytic groups
- Theoretical seminars throughout the year in Bristol on the second Saturday of the month except April and August over four years
- 2 Essays, and a Theoretical and final Clinical Paper
Qualification is at the discretion of the Council of GASW, which considers the recommendations of its Training Committee. It is dependent upon satisfactory performance in, and integration of, the different elements of the course: personal group analysis, supervised clinical practice, theoretical work and written assignments. The minimum duration of the training is five years. GASW has the right to terminate a trainee's training at any time.
All aspects of this training comply with the Training Standards of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and graduates will be eligible for registration with the UKCP.
